Maha Omicron tally up by 23 in highest single-day rise

The state recorded its highest single-day rise in Omicron cases on Thursday, with genetic sequencing of the samples of 23 people — including five from Mumbai — showing the new highly transmissible variant. The previous single-day highest tally was 11 on December 21.
