125 ponds found with banned catfish species

A huge volume of the banned Thai mangur fish, possibly running into thousands of tons, is being illegally bred in over 125 artificial ponds in rural Thane, according to surveys by government agencies. The fish is reared because of its high demand locally as it is much cheaper than other fish and also seafood or meat.
