Longest serving rector of Mt Mary Basilica dies

An elderly shepherd of the Catholic Church in Mumbai, Msgr Nereus Rodrigues, passed away at age 97 Thursday. He was the longest serving rector of Mt Mary's Basilica, Bandra, and a pioneering educationist who founded St Andrews College in the same suburb. Holy Family Hospital nearby also owes its landmark status to him.
