Centre picked 1 for Padma from Maha list of 99

The Maha Vikas Aghadi government had sent 99 names for the Padma awards to the Centre, but only social worker Sindhutai Sapkal was picked from the list. While the state had recommended Sapkal’s name for the Padma Bhushan award, the Centre conferred the Padma Shri. This year, six persons from Maharashtra have been conferred the Padma awards, but barring Sapkal, the remaining five recipients were selected by the Centre.
