Mumbai: Bus stops become magnet for metal pilfering

Over the course of the pandemic, BEST bus stops in the city have become a magnet for metal pilfering. Crooks make off with expensive metal plates from the stops under the cover of night, using gas cutters to cut out the sheets of the high-quality steel alloy. With this nightly theft taking a toll, the BEST Undertaking now plans to approach senior police officers to ensure protection of 6,000 bus stops across Mumbai.
