With rates of diagnostic testing dropping from around Rs 223 to just Rs 86, BMC last week cleared its 'Aapli Chikitsa' scheme at the new reduced rates, under which citizens can get tested at civic hospitals and dispensaries for just Rs 50. BMC subsidises the testing by paying the difference to diagnostic companies on its panel.
