'Cong once again showed its ideological pauperism'

An entire generation of Congress, that was fortunate to have been born with a golden spoon in their mouth, might have never imagined that the electorate would literally throw them out of power during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. Like the Indian television series character Mungerilal, Congress prince Rahul and his sidekicks kept daydreaming that owing to the virtue of their forefathers – Nehru and Gandhi, the Congress will retain the crown even if they failed to get a majority. Despite losing power in 2014, the prince, his mother and their staunch learned leaders like Chidambaram sincerely hoped that they would return to power in 2019. This, they believed, especially after their success in Assembly elections in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh in 2018. But, in 2019, the voters rejected the Congress leadership. And now it seems the Congress leadership is convinced that they will not be able to come back to power at least for the next two terms i.e till their prince becomes a senior citizen.
