Ban on Maha to buy power lifted, outages averted

The ban on Maharashtra to buy or sell electricity on power exchanges was lifted within 24 hours after it was imposed early Thursday morning. The Centre had barred 13 states from power exchange until they cleared their current bills from power generators. Had the ban continued, the state could have witnessed large-scale power outages which would have dampened the festival season.
