Maha: CAG recommends direct election for mayors

In probably its first such recommendation, the Comptroller and Auditor General has asked the state government to consider direct election of mayors by the people and give them executive powers. The recommendation comes ahead of civic elections in Mumbai and various other parts of Maharashtra.
