Autistic Mumbai girl makes waves across Palk Strait

Young city-based swimmer Jiya Rai braved the elements to make history on Sunday. The sea was already rough due to strong 49kmph winds as a cyclone had hit the Bay of Bengal on Saturday. But Jiya not only tided over the tricky conditions, she also broke the previous record that was held by Bula Chowdhary (52) from West Bengal who had covered the Palk Strait in 13 hours 52 minutes in 2004 when she was 34 years old.
