Panvel waterfall plugged with stones to prevent drownings

To prevent drownings of picnickers at the popular Kundi waterfall in Panvel taluka, the local forest and police officials have dumped stones at the base of the waterfall to reduce its depth. Activists, however, have alleged that closure or filling up of natural sites and carrying out blasting work without obtaining prior environmental permission is illegal.
